Quick post (sorry, no sexy pictures).
Several have asked in the comments about Wonkette's numbers. I have not made any jaunts over and will not - you have all energized me and strengthened my resolve.
Wonkette has had 100,000 views today. You can check out Wonkette's numbers here and compare them to other days. Considering that it is already nearly 4:30 on the East Coast, I think we have made a big impact today. But I guess I will be able to tell for sure at midnight.

Looks good, but keep in mind there are still (as you say) eight hours left in today till midnight. Agreed though that most of its views come during the work hours.
Also, compare those numbers not just to "the past" but specifically to other non-holiday Wednesdays (1/16, 1/9). That's the most appropriate comparison.
And this is including Ken's auto-refresh.
I say we continue the boycott.
I'm in favor of giving Jim and Greg some hits for Thurs.
I was tempted yesterday thanks to Jim's poorly done, but amusing in a bad going to hell kind of way modified photo of 9/11 as a metaphor for 9udi stumbling.
As I watched the stock market, I'm pretty sure we're going to see more shit like what happened to Megan to other sites.
I'm in. This is actually kind of more fun than the Paultard War.
I say we hold out longer. It's just as fun to comment here. Not going back Thursday, me.
I'm all for the proposed blitzkrieg, but other than that I'm remaining a Wonkexile.
Besides, a few more Crappy Hour sessions like today and I'll have suitably wasted all my time anyway.
Continue the BAN. No more wonkette for the week. I went cold turkey for a whole day, and although I got the shakes after lunch, I'm OK> Please post something by Megan here though--
Let's let the number sink even more!
I agree with a continued ban. Look, we don't know whether or not this came about because it was a slow news day or what. If we can put a sustained hurt on the pageviews, that might be something.
And yet there's Newell. Poor bastid.
I'm torn.
The problem is that these numbers are waaay macro. There are only 60 of us. We can't be driving down pageviews by a factor of tens of thousands. Could we?
@cb: We can't be driving down pageviews by a factor of tens of thousands. Could we?
Well, that was the subject of my late-night enovel. Comments do leverage pageviews, since a lively thread encourages multiple refreshes throughout the day.
Sixty of us does seem rather light to produce an effect, but folks like yourself -- the Wonketteer Top Guns -- make those threads lively in the first place. Given the wasteland I saw when I peeked on Monday (quality as well as quantity), it may be that the Silent Clicking Majority is also finding better things to do.
Being a good Foreigns Legionaire, I'll keep the strike going if that's the plan.
The way to test this, is a single post guerrilla raid a la Crappy Hour. You like Newell? Pick his post. Same snark. No mention of HFA. Just one post. Everybody in. 200-300 comments. Just because we can.
I want to proceed with the plan as is tomorrow and gang up on one of Jim Newell's posts and leave a ton of comments with snark and love and support for Jim. If there are some that don't want to do it, I totally respect that. Because in my mind, after tomorrow and that one post, the ban is on!
BTW, I thought I posted the same thing on the last thread, but can't find it. So if this was a duplicate - sorry. I will submit for the appropriate discipline. But I will only surrender to the soldier on the right in the previous post.
In terms of nomenclature, may we consider our plans a "threadbomb"?
Generalissimo, you will let us know which of Jim's posts we're hitting (hehe) in the AM orders, right? Please give us a link directly to it so we don't bolster their numbers by clicking through the front page. I want to continue the boycott, but I don't want Jim to get fired - I'm sure Layne will blame him for any decrease in traffic.
Herr Generalissimo, nicely done.
--We're not going to have to go on a bong strike or anything, are we?
I don't know if I could handle that. Otherwise everything is wonderful.
When do we go back and hit Jim's stuff?
Private No Class Congcat
Cynica - I will send an email to the HFA and post here with a link to the post to be threadbombed. I obviously have no idea what Jim is going to write, so I am just going to play it by ear until I find a good target. I am hoping for something around 11:00 AM EST, but again I want the right one.
I am all for continuing the boycott. A week so far....
Has anyone else seen this yet?
@chicago bureau
I've read wonkette for years but have never been a commenter. While I have not emailed my enlistment papers to HF, I've been following along quietly. I doubt I'm the only person fitting this profile.

"threadbomb", I like!
Comandante HF, I encourage you to lay out the ground rules before launching the bomb, including basic etiquette. "No HFA propaganda"? Fine, we just need to know that.
FInd a good Newell post, mail bomb us the target, then sit back and enjoy.
Then I vote for getting out and continuing this boycott through the week. With all of these new snarky spinoffs, I have plenty of ways to waste time during the day.

He continues to idolize the man, even sporting a tattoo of Nixon's face between his shoulder blades.
That's frightening. I don't even want to meet the people who think that's sexy (and you know they're out there).
noooooo to jezebel! i can't stand 80% of those bitches.
something i didn't dare say on w*****te. any recruits from the jezz , i could welcome if they are able to defect and leave their menstral cramps, etc. for denton to read all about.
have not, will not go to the wonk. we can make it here.
60 and growing, probably more than any blog starts out with.
HF, that pic of 'you'? totally makes me want to be a gay man, btw.
can you believe heath ledger killed himself over megan's dismissal? he really took it hard.....

the top of Denton's URL on his states say: Tuesday, September 23, 2004 -- are these numbers even accurate?

Yep, there's gotta be wider audience who are aware (or becoming aware) of what's happening. I had been plenty content just to watch the show (until Friday night, of course). I followed enough to feel I knew who the good guys/gals were.
@ManchuCandidate: We sir appreciate the valiant contribution you've made from Canada City to our little Coalition of the Ready, Willing, Able and Intoxicated.

Also, Herr Generalissimo, we need to consider the longer term strategery -- key primaries a' ripe for liveblogging are ahead of us: Fla., SC Dem, and of course, Super Tubersday.
I,um, might have a Super Tubersday liveblogging gig to which y'all would be invited. Stay tuned...

LOL! Rightwing snark is so fucking lame. I'm pretty sure the last time I used 'cunt' was in middle school. I'll bet you that one really cracked them up.
As to the great battle.....
The numbers suggest to me not much impact of the HFA today. But I can't rule out a smokescreen. They have significant advantage in this regard. A single "Ron Paul is an Abortionist" thread can attract 100K Paultards like dimwitted bottom of the chain scavengers flocking to a rank, putrid carcass. Its like a mystery how they do it, but not exactly.
@blader: And at midnight Eastern, visits down about 20,000 from Wednesday, pageviews down about 25,000.
Those are current numbers, despite the entry date -- they're directly linked from SiteMeter.
As far as What It All Means, no clue -- you do have to evaluate these things over time, as well as equivalent days of week, and the late December numbers cover the holiday break.
But there is, so far, a drop from the first week of January. If someone also wants to calculate the ongoing view/visit ratio (which the bar colors represent), I won't complain.
Er, Tuesday. I honestly don't know what day of the week it is...
I never commented on Wonkette but read it 5 times a day like it was a prayer. The fun died on Friday and all I'm reading til Megan has a new place is HFA and ChaoticMegan.
